Inventory’s project for Notes from Nowhere consisted of an A5 card bearing the declamatory slogan ‘EVACUATE LONDON’. The words were cut out of the card forming a stencil. The cards were distributed to the public in Frome with the explicit purpose of sending the cards en masse to people in the capital during the project.

The recipients of the cards varied from friends and family to politicians, emergency services and public institutions. As a functioning stencil the recipients of the cards could decide to use the stencil in public space, spreading Inventory’s message, which could be interpreted as apocalyptic or liberating, in the capital.

The work was distributed to the public during the official passage of the Olympic torch through Frome on Tuesday 22nd May, 2012.
