Gardar Eide Einarsson’s work for Notes from Nowhere, Untitled (Those in Power), consisted of thousands of white cards bearing four short statements that mock the oppositions between right and wrong, sanity and insanity, political power and the lack of it. The text on Einarsson’s card works almost like a riddle – a convoluted linguistic play of opposites that hides an essential truth about the nature of politics.

The card was distributed to the public through a number of events in Frome including at performances and lectures, through schools and at the St Catherine’s Artisan Market and Frome Flea. The public were encouraged to send the cards to local, regional, national and European politicians and government departments accompanied by their own messages about social and political concerns and their views on the British political system and responsibilities of politicians.
