Huma Mulji
The city and its collective memory, observing the everyday within intimate urban geographies, serve as the subjects of Huma Muljiās anti-heroic works.
The artist has an abiding interest in examining the specificity of place, amplifying a perpetual discomfort and scepticism from the perspective of both observer and participant, in the face of colonialism and capitalism. Mulji works across media, using photography, collage, drawing and sculptural installation to critically explore locale against a backdrop of economic globalisation, state and military power.
Mulji is a member of Document and Location, Foreground’s research programme produced in collaboration with The University of the West of England.
