Micah Purnell

Micah Purnell works as a graphic designer but much of his activity uses design to create breathing space within the structures of public advertising, creating text-based graphic interventions attempting to inject thought provoking and socially questioning statements into the fabric of commercial publicity rather than advertising products or services.

Purnell’s works have appeared as flyposters, billboards, street signage and flyers. Almost always unattributed without title, logo, sponsor’s credits or web links, Purnell’s self initiated antidotes to the ubiquity of commercial messages attempt to redeem advertising space for a broader discussion about how we create value.
